Pratt Industries Lives Up to Its ‘Safety as a Value’ Promise
Safety is not just a priority but a core value at Pratt Industries. To encourage the importance of safety being everyone’s responsibility, Pratt Industries taps into its entrepreneurial spirit and promotes a strong safety culture.
Ryan Peart, Pratt Industries’ Safety Director, recently spoke about this in regards to National Safety Month, “At Pratt Industries, we promote the principle of see something, say something, do something as a key component of a successful safety program. It is a primary focus of our safety culture and a value that encourages all employees to have involvement in safety. National Safety Month provides us with a great opportunity to reinforce safety values.”
A Culture of Safety
Pratt Industries instills a strong commitment to workplace safety among all of its team members. From general managers to hourly employees, all levels of the organization are responsible for implementing safety as an important and fundamental practice that is a key component to the overall culture. The following safety achievements highlight the ongoing commitment to safety:
In February of this year, Pratt Recycling Division reached 1.5 million man hours worked without a lost time accident.
“We celebrated this safety milestone with a presentation made by the corporate recycling management members at each Pratt Recycling site. We presented a plaque at a luncheon for all employees and awarded each Pratt employee an emergency kit for their automobiles along with a letter signed by the President of the Division and the Division Safety Manager. We congratulate the entire Pratt recycling team on their accomplishment and motivate them to continue to improve by setting the next goal at two million man hours without a lost time incident.” – James Bacik, Division Safety Manager, Pratt Recycling, Inc. On May 12, 2021, Pratt Springfield reached their sixth year without a lost time accident.
“Pratt Springfield is proud to announce that the plant is able to have a plant wide celebration for the 6th consecutive year by serving a catered steak dinner. Pratt Moultrie Agriculture Warehouse
This month, Pratt Agriculture in Moultrie, Georgia hit 500,000 hours without a lost time or recordable accident.

Pratt Lathrop Corrugating Facility
The Pratt Lathrop corrugating facility recently reached three years with zero lost time accidents and continues to celebrate significant safety achievements.
“The Lathrop Corrugating Facility completed 2020 with zero recordable incidents. This was an accomplishment that highlighted the commitment and resolve of our team members in the most difficult of times. Everyone on our team should be proud of this achievement. We celebrated by having a steak and shrimp dinner for all employees. Recently, on May 24, 2021, we reached three years with zero lost time injuries. Our plant will be ordering custom shirts to commemorate the accomplishment.” – John Allard, Safety Manager, Pratt (Lathrop Corrugating), LLC
Award Winning Safety Achievements
Pratt’s entrepreneurial culture promotes pride and ownership at each individual location and has helped to foster a safety culture that annually receives multiple awards. Most recently, 31 Pratt Industries locations were recognized for safety excellence as a result of their 2020 Corrugated Container Industry Annual Report of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses which is compiled by the Fibre Box Association (FBA) and AICC, the Independent Packaging Association. Ten of Pratt Industries locations received Perfect Plant Awards and 21 locations received Safety Excellence Awards. Perfect Plant Awards are given to facilities that convert corrugated boxes and with zero recordable Lost Time Accidents or other incidents. Safety Excellence Awards are given to facilities with zero Lost Time Accidents. These awards recognize each winning plant’s dedication to safety after analyzing data for more than 169 million hours worked at 723 participating plants.
